High School - MAXTAP

MAXIMIZING TALENT AND POTENTIAL - MaxTAP is a program for academically gifted and talented students in grades seven through twelve. It derives its name from a desire to maximize the talent and potential of all Southern regional student. Through an awareness of different learning styles and an emphasis on creative problem-solving, divergent thinking, and higher order thinking skills, MaxTAP teachers seek to provide for the special needs of their students. The MaxTAP program has been created to meet the following goals:

  • Promote critical and analytical thinking, planning skills, creative problem solving, and advanced research skills.
  • Provide experiences which help in decision making, conflict resolution, values clarification, and teamwork.
  • Maximize students' levels of achievement by providing differentiated curriculum and individualized product design.
  • Utilize traditional approaches in combination with the creative arts and current technology to enable students to become active participants in their own learning process.
