The 7th Grade Language Arts Department places a strong emphasis on the
development of language skills and an introduction to literary
devices.
Essay writing, study skills, grammar, and vocabulary development
are integrated throughout the school year. All students
maintain writing portfolios and a summer reading program is
required.
In 8th Grade,
students are expected to build upon skills initiated in 7th
Grade. There is a continued emphasis on the critical
interpretation of various forms of literature, grammar, and
essay writing. Students are introduced to the formal
research process. All 8th Graders further develop their
writing portfolios. A summer reading program is also
required.
