About the class
Students have the opportunity to go through 3 different levels of Television Production. Intro to TV, Intermediate, and Advanced.

In Intro to TV you learn the basics of camera use and shots. You also learn the basics of television production, script writing and how the things we see on tv are made and chosen to put on air for the world to see.

In intermediate students learn and focus on the studio and the news. Students use news broadcasting styles, interviewing techniques, the crew positions, lighting, and news writing.

Advanced kids run their class. They chose what they produce and show on the morning news. The class consists of teams that rotate weekly on creating the morning news that the school and Channel 21 see. They also chose anything school related to create documentaries, show opens, and short films on. They can then be selected to send them out to a film festival.

After advanced few students are chosen to be a Independent study to continue their start of a Television Career.

Mission Statement
Under the auspices of the Board of Education and the guidance of the Administration, it is the mission of the Southern News Network to provide the viewing public of our District with high quality informative and entertaining programming. This mission will be accomplished in conjunction with a second charge; namely, the development of our Television Broadcast students’ ability to competently perform the "on air" and "off air" tasks related to the production of the programming viewed by our public. These responsibilities direct the energies of everyone involved with the mission of the Southern News Network.
