Transportation

General Information

A majority of Southern Regional students depend on bus transportation to get to and from school. The following regulations must be observed by all riders:

  1. Students should be on time at their designated bus stops.
  2. Good order is essential. The bus driver is the person of authority in full charge of the bus and is responsible for maintaining order.
  3. The driver may assign each student a definite seat, subject to change by the Principal, Assistant Principal, or bus driver.
  4. Students are to use seatbelts where provided.
  5. The bus driver will report unmanageable students to the Administration for disciplinary action.
  6. All school regulations are in effect on buses.
  7. Parents or guardians of students suspended from the bus are responsible for providing transportation to and from school.
  8. Students needing a secondary bus stop must contact Transportation. After the first two weeks of school, the district will approve secondary stops for buses with available seats. If a bus is full, a secondary stop cannot be approved.
Activity Buses

Students participating in athletics, band, vocational school, or extra-curricular activities will be issued special passes to ride buses outside of regular hours. Students wishing to stay late for make-up work must obtain a bus pass from the supervising teacher or activity sponsor. Students must remain with the teacher in the designated classroom and promptly report to sessions. Remaining in the building without proper accountability will result in disciplinary action and/or reduction of privileges. A bus pass is required to board the activity bus. Any student who leaves school property will not be permitted to ride the bus.

Student Parking

Only seniors and juniors are permitted to register their automobiles and drive to school. Students must park only in their designated area. No underclassmen may register automobiles. Registration forms are available in the Main Office — the owner's registration card and driver's license must be submitted for recording.

  • Cars must display a valid SRHS parking permit.
  • Permits may be purchased for $5.00 with parental consent.
  • The permit must be displayed on the driver's side rear window.

Automobiles parked on Southern Regional property may be searched for drugs, alcohol, or other contraband without notice. Student parking is a privilege — violations of school rules, Board policy, unmet disciplinary obligations, or excessive absences/tardies may result in revocation of this privilege.
